Ronald McDonald House
Since November 2010, Gel Group has continued to volunteer time and support to the Ronald McDonald House for children. The house itself has been established in Perth for just over 20 years, providing a ’home away from home’ to more than 3,000 rural families with a child undergoing treatment for cancer or other serious illnesses at Princess Margaret Hospital.
The house in Subiaco has 12 rooms and a small number of self-contained units, with anywhere up to 50 people staying at any one time, so things can get fairly hectic and emotional too as some of the kids have terminal illnesses. The house relies on the support of companies such as Gel Group as they are only semi-funded by McDonalds.
Throughout the year, Gel Group staff will go in teams of 2, to spend the day at the house helping out, mainly with cleaning and also ensuring house supplies are well stocked. The team members will finish the day with the very touching experience of a visit to PMH to see the children and meet some of the fulltime volunteers of this important and worthy foundation.

Rise to the Challenge, St Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout
On Thursday 21 June 2012 nearly 1000 business leaders from around Australia slept rough for just one night to experience first-hand what over 100,000 Australians experience every night.
In Perth, 108 top business and community leaders came face-to-face with the daily challenges of homelessness as they shivered their way through chilling winds and low temperatures to seek a secure spot on their cardboard mattress at the WACA to raise awareness and critical funds for Australia’s homeless as part of the second annual Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
